Most vessels will have multiple computers connected on a network. With MMS Manage it's easy to provide access to all PC's via the vessel server.
Step 1. Download Installation
The first step is to download the latest MMS Manage (Vessel) install files:
MMS Manage - Vessel 1.12.7.msi
Step 2. Generate Installation Key
To install MMS Manage on a vessel you will to generate an installation key from an admin account.
To do this:
- Open MMS Manage, log in using an admin account.
- Click the cog wheel (top right), then "Settings"
- Click "Vessels" on the sidebar menu
- At the top of the page, click "Installation Keys"
- Select the relevant vessel and click "Generate"
You will then see a textbox with a long string of letters and number. This is the installation key, which must be used within 30 days. Carefully copy this into a text document without editing it ready to install.
Step 3. Install Vessel Server (optional)
By setting up a vessel server MMS Manage will only need to download documents once. All other PC's will then connect to this server to update documents. You can use the vessel main server, or any PC which is usually switched on.
Prerequisites:
- We currently support Windows and Linux operating systems
- The server needs access to: https://manage-api.mms-app.com
To install:
- Run "MMS Manage - Setup X.X.X.msi" and follow the installation prompts.
- Once the install is complete, a window will open to setup the installer
- Select "Vessel Server" from the select box
- By default the server will use port 8080. If you don't know what this means then it's best to leave the default. Sometimes other software may use this port, in which case you will need to choose a different number.
- Enter an Installation Key (see above).
- The server will now start and begin to synchronise files.
- On restart, the server will start in the taskbar (bottom-right) you can check the IP/Port or open MMS Manage by right clicking the MMS icon.
Step 4. Install Vessel Terminals
Each PC on the network should have MMS Manage installed for crew access. By installing the application on each terminal it will store a cache of the data in case of network failure, alternatively you can access the database by connecting to the server from a web browser (i.e. http://<server IP>:<server Port>).
Prerequisites:
- We currently support Windows and Linux operating systems
To install:
- Run "MMS Manage - Vessel Web Setup X.X.X.exe" and follow the installation prompts.
- Once the install is complete, a window will open to setup the installer
- If you installed the server in Step 3:
- Select "Connect to vessel server"
- Enter the Server address and port (if you're not sure then you can right click on the MMS icon in the taskbar (bottom-right) on the server to see these details)
- If you are not using a vessel server:
- Ensure the PC can access https://manage-api.mms-app.com
- Select "Direct Connection"
- Enter a valid Installation Key (see Step 2 above)
